Inspired by the life of a Dragon Fruit Flower Stop Motion Animation for VSW26 A performance piece that is timed by the melting of ice. When asked to create a piece of art as a performance I had to think long and hard but after doing a recycle class on why we should reuse old clothing I decided I could knit and use a Sphere of ice as the timer. Wish I had done this during summer and that Ice would have melted so fast. But I had fun. enjoy I did.
There are thing you only have to watch, to feel hot and humid. When I was asked to create a sculpture appropriating a classics painting, I found Claude Monet's San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk. Playing with how to turn this painting into a piece of wearable art. And with the theme for this years Fashion Festival being "Into the Light" How would I incorporate light into the piece as well. This is it.
'Into the Light' a 35 x 35 x 35 cm Marquette made of Organza, cotton and fairy lights. I love it, I did not get the time to make it into a wearable dress thought. The delightful blue colour is deceiving, the roar is a warning. Blue is a cool peaceful colour. There is several way you can watch this . In silence this is quite the site, bubbling water and light dancing around. But with the sound on there is a roar that tells you that this is a raging, bubbling water. Live is like this bubbling water, depending on how you look at it, you can be calm or raging and still be blue. The delightful blue colour is deceiving, the roar is a warning. Hey all, Rather than telling you about me, I would like to tell you about my passion for creating things. I live in the hot and humid part of the Lucky country. It has been a very warm summer and with the children home I have had the opportunity to create a few thing with them. Over the holidays my daughter and I created this quilt. My daughter designed all the panels in her favourite Harry Potter Style and I was on the sewing machine putting it all together. Sorry there are no patterns for the panels. As part of my Uni class I am doing over Christmas I am creating this blog, I know that my Daughter will not be happy that I have put her quilt up but it is my picture and I have to be careful not to use pictures and other thing that are not mine.. I am being Challenged with all of this so please be patient I will get there. |
AuthorIt took me four and a half years, and now I have a University degree, a Bachelor of Arts(Fine Arts Visual Culture). It is a double major. Archives
