VSW13 Sculpture, Project One: Exercise Two this time I chose the stockings and thread, my three ideas, it is just a place to start and learn from. I was once taught how to make a cloth doll so that is where I started using the stocking as filling. This on is just a stocking floating in mid air from many threads. Not as easy as I had hoped but worked . The topic was 'Time and this I used the Embroidery sewing Machine to create.

These are my VSW13 project one pieces. I was asked to choose two products from a list and create a sculpture. I chose Wax and Light. These are my three ideas of how to put the two materials together not finished projects. And yes for those who know me I did not just make three. There is nothing like being able to create something from nothing. Over the last year I have been studying Sculpture. When asked to find an object, pull it apart and reconstruct it into another object, it was challenge on. I started with a clock and a cordless keyboard. Knitted the copper wire from the clock part into a scarf, and mess it up just like my hair. I call it running out or time. But what do you think??
A sculpture challenge again, this time using thread and stockings. Ok, you know that it did not stop there. I also had to use wax and light. Challenge on! I thought of dolls as I had been taught to create fabric dolls many years ago. But then I was looking at how to add the light and wax. As for most of my art I drew from my own life, I have a baby doll from the 1960 that as a child I loved almost to death. She no longer has two eyes, one is damaged and her eyelashes have been plucked. Lucky she has plastic hair or that too many have suffered. She has several patches on her body, where I repaired her over the years. There was a time in my life where I would have liked to be a doll doctor. My thoughts went from creating a new doll using the stocking in the same way I had made fabric dolls, using the threads as strings turning the doll into a marionette. My doll now sits in a wardrobe waiting for the day children once again come into the house and play. I had shone the light through a star shaped in the wax and noticed that it created mood lighting. With all this in my head this is the final sculpture. In the end this doll sits in a box made of wax that has a small hole in it. When the door of the cupboard opens the light floods through the hold and give the doll hope, way too often the door opens and closes, she is still there on the floor of the box tangled in her strings. She is patience and will wait for the day a child come to play. Would it not be nice if we all had the patience to wait for one day. Light at the endWhen all is lost and you find yourself in the dark scared and lonely, your heart broken aching for love forgotten. Look into the light love will come from the light. |
